In this blog, we are talk about setting time of cement and about the types and differences of Time of Cement. The initial & final time are used in cement to gain some strength purpose. And it enhance the beauty of your house or commercial building.

What Is Setting Time of Cement?

When we talk about the Initial and the final setting time of cement, about how much it takes time to lose its full softness and gain strength to resist the pressure.

Initial Setting Time of Cement

It is the time used elapsed between the moments that added the water into cement and to the time that the paste starts losing its softness.

Final Setting Time of Cement

It is the time used elapsed between the moment the water is added to the cement and the time when cement paste loses its flexibility completely and has reached sufficient firmness to resist certain pressure.

Basic Tests On Cement

The following tests are conducted on cement in the laboratory are as follows:

  • Fineness Test of Cement
  • Consistency Test of Cement
  • Setting Time Test of Cement
  • Soundness Test of Cement
  • Heat of Hydration Test
  • Specific Gravity Test of Cement
  • Tensile Strength Test
  • Chemical Composition Test

Significance of Initial and Final Setting Time of Cement

  1. It is required that cement does not lose its flexibility too early or late. If cement set too early, have insufficient time for transportation or place concrete.
  2. If cement set too late then there is a delay in construction work. Also, concrete will not get sufficient strength early and the formwork removal process delayed.
  3. The proper setting time required for the thicken of cement paste to a defined consistency.
  4. It is indirectly related to the chemical reaction of cement with water to form an aluminium–silicate compound.
  5. Initial setting time is a valuable time to know for concrete transportation, placing, and curing.
  6. Initial setting time also used to delay the process of hydration or hardening.
  7. The final setting time used for the safe removal of scaffolding or form.
  8. Factors of Affecting Initial and Final Setting Time of Cement
  9. The fineness of cement, the presence of salts in sand, atmospheric conditions.

IS Code for Initial and Final Setting Time of Cement

As Per IS: 4031 (Part 5) – 1988. The first and final setting time of cement is calculated using the VICAT apparatus conforming to IS: 5513 – 1976.

Apparatus

Initial and Final Setting Time of Cement

1. Balance – The permissible variation at a load of 1000 g shall be ± 1.0 g.

2. Vicat Apparatus – Vicat apparatus should confirm to IS: 5513-1976.

3. Stopwatch

4. Gauging or Mixing Trowel

5. Glass Plate

6. Enamel tray

Test Procedure for Initial and Final Setting Time of Cement

Preparation of Test

1. Consistency of cement shall be evaluated before conducting a test to find out % of the water required by the weight of cement as normal consistency of cement (P).

2. Take about 400 gm of cement and add water about 0.85x P (P is % water needed for normal consistency of cement)

3. Mix water with cement quickly in a brief time about 3 min to 5 min. Start the stopwatch at the instance when water is added to the cement. Record this time (T1).

4. Now, fill this prepared cement paste in Vicat apparatus mould having a diameter of 80 mm and a height of 50 mm resting on non –porous glass plate. Properly fill and smooth off the top surface of mould and level it.

I. Procedure of Initial Setting Time of Cement

1. For deciding the first setting time of cement, place this mould filled with cement paste below the Vicat apparatus and fit the needle used for evaluating the initial setting time.

2. Lower the bottom of the needle such that it touches the top of cement paste filled in mould.

3. Remove the locking pin from the top and quick release the needle, allowing it to penetrate the cement paste.

4. At the beginning, the needle penetrates and touches the bottom of mould. Repeat this process, like quickly releasing the needle after every 2 minutes till the needle does not penetrate the cement paste for about 5 mm measured from the bottom of the mould.

5.  Note Time (T2) when needle does not penetrate 5 mm from the bottom of mould.

Initial and Final Setting Time of Cement

II. Procedure of Initial Setting Time of Cement

1. For figuring out the final setting time of cement replace the needle with another needle having angular ring attachment.

2. Now, slightly release this needle on the surface of cement paste and see that it is making an impression of the ring on the surface or not. Not the time when need does not make an impression of the surface of cement paste. (T2)

Calculation of Initial and Final Time:

Initial setting time of cement = Time when needle does not penetrate 5 m from the bottom of mould (T2) – The time when added to cement (T1)

Final setting time of cement = Time when angular need ring impression stop on cement paste (T3) – Time when water added to cement (T1)

Practical Calculations

Let Suppose, Consistency of cement (P) = 30% and Weight of cement = 400 kg

Water to be added in cement = (0.85 x P) x 400 = (0.85 x 30%) x 400 = 102 ml

Time when water added to cement = 7:00 am

Time, when needle does not penetrate less than 5 mm from the bottom of mould = 7:45, am

Initial Setting Time of Cement = 7:45 am – 7:00 am = 45 min.

Time When angular ring needle does not make impression on the surface of cement paste = 12:00 pm

Final setting Time of Cement = 12:00 pm – 7:00 am = 5 hr = 300 min.

Standard Values of Initial and Final Setting Time for Various Cement

There are several types of cement used in the construction. It is Depending on the types of cement and mixture used during the manufacturing of cement with initial setting time and final setting time are differs for cement. There are standard–setting time for distinct types of cement is given below.

In this blog, we are talk about the finishing plaster and elaborate more about the types and differences of plastering. These finishes are used in exterior and interior for plaster finishes purpose. And it enhance the beauty of your house or commercial building.

What Is Finished Plaster?

Once the walls are construct, the next level operation are follows is Plaster Finishing. It is complete to ensure the equality of the top surface of the walls and to get more an aesthetic finishing look. The use of mortar to cover the wall surfaces and ceilings to get an elegant look and fine finish. We will be going discussing about several types of plaster finishing and its properties.

Types of Plastering Finishes

Here are 10 Types Plaster Finished,

1. Pebble Dash Plaster Finish

It is a kind of Plaster Finish in which small pebbles or crushed stones into the appropriate length (from 10 to 12 mm) are thrown onto a freshly implemented final coat of mortar and left exposed.

Pebble Dash Plaster

The mortar for the very last coat is normally made by blending cement and coarse sand in the blend proportion of 1:3 and in approximately 1 mm thickness.

The pebbles used for crushing with nicely washed and thrown moist onto the very last coat. The pebbles are tightly tapped into the mortar with a wooden float or with the flat of the trowel to give a proper shape.

This finish of plaster has all the benefits of the roughcast finish and is usually recommended in similar conditions. It is usually used for protecting exterior walls and gives a classy look to the house structure.

2. Scrapped Plaster Finish

In many houses to create a terrific mixture of clean and rough surfaces, a scrapped plaster finish is created. It is a plaster in which the last coat, after being levelled and allowed to stiffen for some hours, is scrapped with a metallic straight side antique saw blade or different such equipment to cast off the floor pores and skin.

Several sorts of scrapped completed may be acquired using wonderful sorts of equipment in unique manners.

In this plaster finish, the very last layer is normally six to twelve mm thick of which approximately three mm is removed in the scrapping process. The scrapping is finished after the placing of the very last coat has taken place.

In scrapping, the surface skin of the mortar is removed to show mixture, and the feel acquired depends upon the grading aggregates used in the very last coat. In this plaster finish is much less liable to crack than the apparent finish.

3. Textured Plaster Finish

A textured plaster finish may be typically observed on boundary walls or a part of a feature wall to create a textured interior décor installation.

A textured plaster finish is created by utilising stucco plastering, completed with a hard floor but frequently smoothed over to create repetitive patterns.

For textured finish blend of sand, cement, lime, and water used combined with numerous components including fibres and synthetics acrylics, or even colouring pigments.

In this finish, decorative finish or textured surfaces are produced by operating with numerous equipment at the freshly implemented the very last coat. This finish owns all the advantages of the difficult finish.

4. Stucco Plaster Finish

Stucco plaster finish belongs to a kind of plaster that materials a superior finish. This plaster may be applied for internal as well as outside surfaces.

Stucco Plaster

It is three coats which make the complete thickness of the plaster 25mm.

The first coat is referred to as scratch coat; the second is a finer coat of brown coat and the 1/3 is referred to as a white coat or completing coat.

5. Exposed Aggregate Plaster Finish

White and coloured marble chips will be of 6 mm to twelve mm length will be used which acquired from crushing hard marble stone.

Exposed aggregate finish plaster will be 20 mm thick. The method of utility will be like for the sand-faced finish. Mix proportion must be one cement: one marble chip and the pebbles for use will be nicely washed and drained.

The admixture will be thrown moist onto the undercoat even as it is still plastic the use of a strong whipping motion at proper angles to the face of the wall. Loose mortar at the top floor will be cleaned or removed by washing / brushing with a water jet.

6. Waterproof Plaster Finish

Cement water resistant compound of accepted make and manufacture will be used for plastering. These compounds shall conform to IS:2645.

Use of admixture includes calcium chloride shall not be allowed. The material must be added to the task site in its authentic packing.

The compound will be nicely blended with dry cement in the percentage of three% by weight or as recommended by the manufacture.

Care will be taken even as blending, to look that waterproofing material receives nicely and integrally blended with cement and does not run out one by one on the addition of water.

7. Smooth Coat Finish

This form of plaster completing is clean in nature with levelled floor. The proportion of 1: three is used for Sand and cement for making mortar utilized in completing. The application of mortar to the wall is finished the use of wooden float.

8. Sand Finish Plaster

This plaster finishing is usually completed in coats of mortar blend. The ratio of cement sand is stored 1: four in mortar for the primary layer with 12mm thickness.

Initially, the first layer is conducted and then cured for 7 days, which is observed by the second one layer with a thickness of 8mm.

As per requirement, the ratio is stored at 1:1 for sand and cement mixture. Use of sponge is finished after when the layer is moist to add the specified characteristics.

9. Rough Plaster

Rough finishing of plaster requires a Cement Sand Aggregate ratio of 1:1: three for finishing work, having a rough mixture size of 3mm to twelve mm.

In this Finishing of plaster floor, the mortar blend splashed at the wall, and then it is finished rough with the assist of float made from wood.

This finished plaster is greater durable, waterproof, and crack and crazing proof.

10. Depeter Finish

It is like most final finishing plaster coat that is having a thickness of around twelve to fifteen mm for a brilliant quality finish.

The materials of Gravel Plinth are compressed to the specified degree manually after the utility of mortar. Gravel plinth can be used in diverse colours and shapes to give a colourful look to the wall.

Gain the specified characteristics for surfaces including aesthetic, Heat insulation, durability, and lots greater houses there is the necessity of including a few unique materials with cement paste.

The followings are the wall plastering materials,

1. Acoustic Plaster

There is usually a want to add gypsum in mortar blend for floor finishing to resist the formation of honeycomb. In formation of honeycomb, the floor coat is vulnerable to undergo chemical reaction resulting in the formation of gas bubbles which in flip results in the formation of small openings at the floor which finally seems honeycomb-like structure.

The acoustic plaster has small pores opening it which absorb sound. Therefore, Types of plaster finishes are maximum used to cover a cinema hall and media room to a minimal the eco echo effect.

2. Asbestos Marble Plaster

Asbestos Cement similarly to crushed fine marbles combined with cement to obtain an ideal Surface Finish.

3. Barium Plaster

X-ray carbines are very plenty liable to radioactivity which enforces the combination of barium soleplate in mortar all through the completing works to make certain the protection of people working in such areas from radioactivity.

4. Granite Silicone Plaster

It is a plaster finish achieved through blending silicon and granite with mortar. Use of such plaster finishes is completed for the constructions with superior characteristics.

It is an elastic in nature and short in the placing. This plaster cuts cracks at the floor

5. Gypsum Plaster

POP

Plaster of Paris is obtained by heating gypsum at 165°-to-170°-degree temperature. Plaster of plaster were given liquefied inside 5-eight minutes of heating

While Using POP right amount of retarder is blended with it to beautify the placing time of mortar. For crack restore and ornamental work, a POP is used with lime for suitable bond strength and finishing.

It is a lightweight, soundproof, and fire-resistant material is used in construction.

6. Keene’s Cement Plaster

For manufacturing Keene’s Cement Plaster, POP is blended with alum in fixed proportions. These kinds of plaster used for ornamental functions because it seems appealing after hardening which while forms a polish like white glass after hardening in few days.

In this blog, we are talk about the concrete finishing and elaborate more about the types and differences of concrete finishes. These finishes are mainly used in exterior or maybe interior finishing purpose. And it enhance the beauty of your house or commercial building.

What Are Concrete Finishes?

A smooth surface formed with screeds and trowels is the basic types of concrete finishes. It works screed used to level off the concrete surface immediately after it has been shaping.

Screeds are made from long pieces of metal or wood that are pulled and pushed across the concrete surface to remove extra concrete base and fill in the gaps which formed.

Concrete is a flexible construction material that used in a wide range for the residential, commercial, and industrial area applications across the world. Concrete’s strength shows inside, but its beauty comes on the outside.

10 Types of Concrete Finishes

The following are different concrete finish types,

1. Floating or Trowelling

Concrete finishers use trowels to smooth and satisfactory level of the surface of the concrete, it has been tool with a screed. This can be using either manual or mechanical methods.

Power trowels are available and commonly used in large commercial and industrial projects when manual trowels are impractical. The power blades of trowels resemble large fans and sit directly against the concrete.

2. Broom Concrete Finishes

A broom finish is used to make concrete surfaces more slip resistant. This is done after the concrete has been placed, levelled, and trowelled.

A broom is dragged throughout the floor of the concrete after it has been smoothed to generate microscopic ridges that provide traction control, especially when the concrete is moist. When liquids are present on concrete surfaces without a brush finish, they end up slippery and unsafe.

3. Exposed Aggregate Finish

Washing the top layer of concrete away exposes the edges of the natural stone aggregates positioned into the concrete, developing an uncovered finish that became once popular on anciently town sidewalks. This outcomes in a visually attractive and slip-resistant coating.

Other substances can be added to the combination to the standard concrete substances (cement, sand, gravel, and water) to provide exposed concrete finishes with appearances.

Rose quartz, limestone, darkish grey or black salt, red or blue granite, tinted glass, or even seashells are examples. The trick with any of those chemical compounds is to stay away from iron–holding items, as they could discolour concrete. It is also important to use a high–quality seal after the concrete has cured to shield the floor.

4. Salt Finish

A salt finish is a kind of finish that is commonly used on pool decks. Salt concrete finishes are made through sprinkling rock salt on top of moist concrete and then washing it away, leaving little pits in the very last product.

It is a concrete floor is completed through rolling coarse rock salt crystals onto a freshly laid concrete floor and then washing it off with streams of water as soon as the concrete has hardened.

Plain or coloured concrete finishes gets a beautiful, hard subtle texture and skid resistance with this coating. It is usually used in swimming pools  area and different moist environments.

5. Stamped Concrete

Concrete stamps are a usual form of texture. Concrete stamps are made of panels with inlaid motifs which are placed on still-curing concrete.

Achieve the favoured aesthetic, designs may also consist of brick, stone, or different decorative styles, sometimes imitating different usual production substances even as maintaining the electricity and durability of concrete.

After the forms were removed, the concrete floor may be stained to add colour, as shown below. The needed patterns are pressed into the freshly levelled concrete to create the stamped concrete finishing. The change of production, this style of concrete finishes resembles slates or flagstones, brick, tile, or, with the proper talent, wooden.

Patios, vehicle porches, driveways, and walks all gain from stamped concrete, which is a clever and creative concrete innovation.

6. Coloration of Concrete Finishes

Colour is delivered to concrete to provide it a glance that suits the structure of the encompassing structure. Mix-delivered pigments or post-remedy staining, each of that are cited beneath, may be used to attain this.

Produce a pleasant appearance that suits the encompassing environment, the coloured end of the concrete is completed through blend-delivered pigments or post-remedy staining.

Pigment or traces may be use to create a coloured finish on a concrete floor. Coloured concrete with pigments may be made through blending the pigments immediately into the concrete mix before pouring.

Stains may be conducted to concrete of any age to attain an extra intense coloured finish, ensuing in pressured coloured concrete. The application of stain is commonly followed through the utility of a sealant to shield the concrete floor.

7. Pigments Concrete Finishes

Using pigments to colour concrete is a straightforward system that includes blending the pigments immediately into the concrete blend before pouring. Pigments are provided in liquid shape or as dissolvable packets which are “ready to blend.” In each circumstance, the pigments are blended with the other concrete substances in the mixer.

The spectrum of colours is available is commonly limited to “earthy” browns and tans; however, greens, blues, and greys also are available. It is critical to hold pigmented concrete sealed throughout its lifespan to keep away from water infiltration, which could fade the pigment.

8. Concrete Stain

Concrete’s colour also can be modified with the usage of numerous staining agents. The use of acid as a staining agent is a frequent practice. Colours are frequently limited to neon-bright, sensitive tones, like concrete pigments.

Water–based (acrylic) staining may be used to create a much broader variety of colours, such as black and white. Stains may be conducted to any age of concrete, even though the colours are more intense if the stain is conducted quickly after the concrete has been laid. The application of stain is commonly observed through the utility of a sealant to shield the concrete floor.

9. Swirl Concrete Finishes

A swirl concrete finishes is a one-of-a-type concrete finish that is completed through spreading the concrete surface in a round pattern that is calmly overlapping.

It gives the concrete floor an aesthetically beautiful look that is preferred for outdoor applications because it not simplest provides beauty to the floor however also makes it more secure to walk and stand on than a clean floor concrete finishes, especially during the moist season.

10. Polished Surface Concrete Finishes

The polished concrete finishes on a concrete floor are acquired through a mechanical method of grinding and sharpening with the use of specialised equipment and device to provide impressive textures with the usage of a penetrate chemical.

These are the extensively used concrete finishes strategies and effective for their purposes.

How much cost will be required to construction a house, or it depends on the area of ??the house, number of stories and type of house, etc.

The average cost of building a house in India is Rs. 1000 to 1500 per sqft for a normal house. This includes all types of expenses such as building materials, contractors, and map-making.

The cost of a labour contractor for works like construction of house structure, tiles fitting, wiring, plumbing, painting is around Rs 220 to 340 per sq ft. And for a simple house plan, an architect or engineer charges Rs 5 to 10 per square feet.

The rest is spent on constructing materials like sand, cement, bars, bricks, etc. House Construction cost can be calculated by multiplying the house construction rate on given by the contractor in a plot or total construction area of the house.

Cost to build a house = Area of plot x Construction Rate

The method of house construction work can be in two ways: in the first way, the supply of building materials, and for the contractor provides labour (masons, carpenters, etc.). In the second way, you ask can the contractor to provide both the materials and labour.

But both methods of house construction have their own advantages and disadvantages ways. Let’s talk about both which is best for you to build a house.

1. Labour Contract

Labour contract means that you only give labour supply contact to the contractor. This contractor can be supply, or handle labour work and you must provide all material required for house construction. Generally, Labour contract rate lies between Rs.250 to 500 Per sq ft, it’s actually depending upon the location and quality of construction work.

Advantages of Labour Contract

  • Quality construction work

  • As material is used by a contractor doesn’t try to save the material and he used required quality of material for construction a house.

  • Less dispute between contractor and owner.

  • You can choose your required quality of material for house a construction.

  • Saving in material cost.

  • You can compare price and quality of different construction material.

Disadvantages of Labour Contract

  • As material supply by owner contractor use excessive material than it required.

  • Contactor does not care about material saving where it can be possible.

  • Owner must care about continuous material supply on site.

  • Owner must do market survey and purchase material.

  • Owner have to work according a schedule which may be disturb or delay a house construction.

2. Material + Labour Contract

In this whole contract work or things is allotted to the contractor. It means the contractor are responsible for material purchase and supply on the construction site and the owner will have to pay for it. This is a house construction contact method as the owner has a minimum workload.

The material + labour contract rate or contraction rate is generally coming between Rs.1000 to 2000 Per sq ft or depending upon the quality of work, location, and contractor reputation in work.

Advantages of Material plus Labour Contract

  • Contactor are responsible for material supply, so owner is free for other work.

  • Owner can only supervise work properly.

  • Contractor must have good experience in material buying so he will select good quality material for construction.

Disadvantages of Material plus Labour Contract

  • If a contactor buy material for construction, he will try to save some money in buying a material.

  • Quality of construction can be poor.

  • Contractor can tries to save material used for construction.

  • Contractor can be order a labour to use less material which results in poor construction.

If you’re Planning to build your own dream house, it may be a difficult when you have no idea about the construction cost. Everyone has a dream to have their own house as if he/she does not have to live in rented houses. But there are many people worry about how much money spend to construction. They will have to collect money to build a house, or we can say a real cost to good house can be built.

Let’s see a way to be calculated house construction price and here I'm also presenting a house construction price calculator sheet that will help you to calculate a cost easily.

House Construction Materials

Building a house in India has not an easy, especially in cities, it is a very difficult task, in different states of India and their cities or rural area, different types of housing construction materials are available, which are used to build a house.

The main materials used for construction a house are cement, sand, aggregates, bricks, and steel. The prices of these construction materials are different according to city and every area. There is convenience and inconvenience in house construction, all these things in cities are very high or low prices. On other hand, House construction materials in the village area can be cheap.

Building materials play an important role in increasing or decreasing construction. If you find materials nearby locally available then their rate will lowcomparedto the other cities, but in case if materials are required to be transported from a long distance to a construction site, then the material cost will be high. This high material rate will add extra cost in house construction.

The quality of material used in house construction also affects the construction of the house. As we decide to build a quality house, we will have to use good quality material and its price will be high compared to normal house construction material.

Let take an example, there are different qualities of brick available in construction material supplier shop

1. First Class Brick – 6.5/ brick

2. Second Class Brick – 4.5/brick

As you can see first-class bricks price is high compared to second class brick. You can clearly see that first-class brick cost is Rs.1. High than second class brick, means if all construction work required 30000 bricks, then your house construction cost will automatically increase by Rs.30,000.

Let’s Take Another Example,

If we all know that construction steel has various grades such as Fe 415, Fe 500, and Fe 500D, etc. and Fe 415, 415 is a tensile strength of steel. Fe 500 is high tensile strength compared to Fe 415, which means if we choose high-strength steel bars for house construction our construction costs get increased.

So, If Steel grade Fe 415 TMT price is Rs.50 /Kg and Fe 500 TMT cost Rs. 60/kg in the market and we choose Fe 500 means our cost of Steel bars will increase by Rs.10/kg.

Hence, if the total steel used for house construction is 3000 kg, then the cost of steel used for construction will increase 3000 x Rs.10 = Rs.30000

So, we can see just by choosing high-quality material our cost increase significantly.

A penthouse is the top most floor of an apartment or any building and is typically differentiated from other apartments by luxury feature like Amazing view, swimming pool, higher ceiling, Jacuzzi, terrace garden, fireplace, square footage, large sized windows and more. Penthouses are the largest, luxurious, and therefore the most expensive apartment in a building at present time.

When you consider that many new buildings have multiple penthouses, and some lack terrace space, calling an apartment a penthouse is just first preference for first-in-class status. A penthouse is a true symbol of luxury living and finest material fittings and tremendous flooring and amenities.

Penthouses got first preference due to the high demand for luxury living. They do not occupy the entire roof but with a nice terrace. We must say that unique thing about a penthouse is that it offers amazing view of the city from the property.

Penthouses can have the access to a penthouse apartment is usually provided by a separate elevator or lift for their personal use with access of all services like restaurant, laundry etc. For a large family with kids and parents, buying a penthouse is a great option as they get enough space to relax and spend quality time in the hall with a beautiful view.

"A penthouse has always been the best unit—or units—in the building," or we can say “a comfortable and expensive set of rooms or flat on top of the building with a luxurious feel”

Each penthouse is unique within a market, and can’t be easily compared on a price with other units in the area because they have so many additional amenities, the first being a luxury.

Penthouses are continue getting popularity amongst buyers in urban Indian cities and for people wanting to invest in real estate for the past few years.

In this blog, we are talk about the steel bar and type of bar used for constructing a house, to know more about layout of house-plot, laws & norms, restoration, civil price and finishing value.

Mild steel bars (as per IS: 432, part-I -1982)

The strength, versatility, and affordability of carbon metal bar make it one of the maximums broadly used manufacturing and construction materials withinside the world. Given the range of various sizes and shapes of metal bar that manufactured, steel bar products provide superior structure and help for a huge variety of construction, architecture, and heavy commercial programs throughout the world.

Mild metal bars are used for tensile strain of RCC (Reinforced cement concrete) slab beams etc. in reinforced cement concrete work. These steel bars are simple in ground and are round sections of diameter from 6 to 50 mm. These rods are synthetic in long lengths and can be reduce and be bent effortlessly without damage.

Deformed steel bars (as per IS: 1786-1985)

As deformed bars are rods of steels provided with lugs, ribs, or deformation at the floor of bar, those bars reduce slippage in concrete and will increase the bond among the 2 materials. Deformed bars have additional tensile stresses compared to moderate smooth metal bars. These bars can be used without end hooks. The strain should be spaced along the bar at substantially uniform distances.

To limit cracks that can develop in strengthened concrete round moderate steel bars because of stretching of bars and a few losses of bond under load it is common to use deformed bars which have projecting ribs or are twisted to enhance the bond with concrete. These bars are produced in sections from 6mm to 50mm in diameter.

In addition, the strength of bonds of deformed bars calculated need to be forty to 80% better than that of plain round bars of equal nominal size. And it has extra tensile strain than that of plain round bars of equal nominal size.

Cold twisted deformed bars are recommended as fine quality metal bars for construction work through structural Engineer.

Various Grades of Mild Steel Bars

Reinforcement bars in accordance with standard IS No. 432 part-I can be classified into following types.

1) Mild Steel Bars: Mild steel bars can be supplied in two grades

     a) Mild steel bars grade-I designated as Fe 410-S or Grade 60

     b) Mild steel bars grade-II designated as Fe-410-o or Grade 40

2) Medium Tensile Steel Bars designated as Fe- 540-w-ht or Grade 75

Grade II Mild steel bar are not recommended for use in structures located in earthquake zones subject to severe damage and for structures subject to dynamic loading (other than wind loading) such as railways and highways bridges.

Each batch or delivery of metal bars on the ground brought into the workplace must be tested in the laboratory before use in the framework of the work. However, for small work you may use mild metal bars based on verifying tests outcomes made through manufacturer in his own laboratory, which can be available with supplier.

Some manufacturers have stamped the grade of MS bars with their mark / appeal and provide grade testing and certification. Based on the above information, it is possible to gradually maintain soft metal bars on the construction site.

Steel Bars for RCC Work

All completed steel bars for reinforced work must be smartly rolled to the measurement and weights as specified. They should be sound, free from cracks, surface flaws, laminations, rough, jagged, and imperfect edges, and different defects. It needs to be completed in a work manlike manner.

General precautions for steel bars in reinforcement

  • Steel bars are clear, free from loose mil scales, dust and loose rust coats of paints, oil or other coatings which may destroy or reduce bond strength.

  • Steel bars should be stored in such a way as to avoid distortion and to prevent deterioration and corrosion.

  • Steel bars should not be clean by oily substance to remove the rust.

  • The bar is bent correctly and accurately to the size and shape as shown in drawings.

  • If possible, the bar of full length is used.

  • Overlapping bars do not touch each other and these should be kept apart with concrete.

  • The overlap if given should be staggered.

  • The cranks in the bar at the end should be kept in position by using spots.

  • The steel bars should not be disturbed while lying cements concrete.

  • Required cover under steel bars should be given before laying the cement concrete.

  • No overlap is given in the bar having a diameter more than 36 mm, if required, the bar should be welded.

Weight of Different Steel Bars

When we need to buy mild steel components from the market, the trader evaluates the steel member load by weight.

When any kind of steel members to be used in residence construction is required, we calculate the length of metallic member in ft or meter, however we're ignorant approximately the weight of metallic.

Here is information of weight per meter for numerous types of steel members: -

This will help us for estimated weight and cost. It will also help when buying to avoid weight theft.

If you're planning to construct a residence, it is essential to recognize the direct and indirect charges concerned in the process. While those prices can also additionally range across States as in keeping with the site, labour charges, and raw material outlays, an approximate concept approximately the related funding would pass a long way. To understand approximately the common price to assemble a residence in India, read on here.

While housing units in a gated community provide a plethora of services and facilities, they're not tailor-made. Therefore, many people decide on impartial home structures because it lets in them to customize their home as in keeping with their choices and convenience. However, the improvement of a residence includes demanding situations. It not only requires huge staying power however detailed construction estimates as nicely to keep away from mismanagement of funds. Generally, owners are both unaware and negligent approximately the improvement price. Consequently, numerous demanding situations arise, various from price-escalation to decrease creation quality.

Layout of plot

The first step in building a residence is the format of the plot. Here, an architect or a designer is needed to create a layout plan for the certain plot. Generally, a format drawing consists of various rooms, kitchen, lavatories, stairs, terrace, balconies, storage area, parking, and some other area you may want to add. However, in trade for the offerings rendered, the architect or the layout engineer could price a fee, which largely depends on the dimensions of the plot. For instance, if the plot length is 1,000 sq feet, the architect may also price among Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000. However, the fees may also differ throughout places, albeit marginally.

Regulatory laws & norms

The constructing rules range throughout places and might growth the task closing date and creation value. For instance, in case your land is in an ecologically sensitive location, you need to technique the municipal body or the gram panchayat under whose jurisdiction your property lies and are searching for creation permission. This may also result in value overruns and expanded task deadlines.

Also, a few towns have strict development rules, and they must be duly found to get approvals. For instance, in Delhi, in case you are making plans to construct a -floor residence, it is important to have stilt parking. In case your building plan does not have this provision, the municipal body could reject the plan.

Ways to restoration your creation budget

According to the development price of a residence depends on things - civil work and the completing work. While the civil work consists of the structure of the residence, the completing work includes doors, windows, wood cupboards, flooring, roofing, wall designs and painting. Holistically, the development prices range from Rs 1,000 sq feet to Rs 5,000 sq feet, depending upon the city and creation site.

1. Civil price

The civil price majorly includes the value of raw materials used in the creation of plinth, walls, roof, boundary wall, parfait, floor work and plastering. The raw substances majorly consist of bricks, cement, concrete, sand, and RCC strengthened steel, amongst others. However, declaring the quantum of raw substances is commonly hard because it in large part depends at the layout of the shape. Moreover, shuttering, contractor and labour costs also are part of the civil price.

Overall, the value of brick wall creation without RCC column differs from Rs 800 according to sq feet to Rs 900 according to sq feet. On the contrary, the brick wall creation without RCC column levels from 900 according to sq feet to Rs 1,000 according to sq feet.

2. Finishing value

As stated above, completing work contains doors, windows, woodwork, electric powered fitting, sanitary fittings, pop paintings and grillwork. The completing value normally varies from Rs 500 according to sq feet to Rs 3,000 according to sq feet, difficulty to the services and the luxuries involved.

Moreover, completing charges also contain labour, consisting of electrician, plumber, tile mason, carpenter, painter, and polisher. Largely, the development price of a residence is the price of civil work, together with the completing charges. Therefore, the common construction price of a 1,000 sqft home may range from approximately Rs 1,300 per sqft to Rs 5,000 per sqft,.

In maximum cases, production price estimates are furnished by architects, contractors, or different expert estimating firms. However, about self-estimation, an essential thing is the excellent of materials used for the development.

Types of production raw substances and their charges

The production raw substances are divided into 3 classes, i.e., C, B, and A.

C Class: Involves production with low-grade bricks/sand, most inexpensive furniture, and low-exceptional cement and metal. Usually, it takes round Rs 7-8 lakh to assemble a C class residence, measuring 1,000 sq ft.

B Class: Such kind of production involves medium-exceptional raw substances, starting from cement and metal to furniture and fittings. Contrary to C class, it might take on a common, Rs 10-11 lakh to finish a B class residence, measuring 1,000 sq ft.

A Class: Such kind of production involves using the nice aid quality, and therefore, the price of building a residence measuring 1,000 sq ft can also additionally range among Rs 15-25 lakh.

Furthermore, the development price will also be stimulated via way of means of outside elements, consisting of:

  • Construction delays due to the non-expert mindset of the contractor or labour strike
  • Increased rental charges of the constructing equipment
  • The inefficient use of system that effects in overhead charges
  • Rise in the material prices
  • Rise in the labour charges

Though the conditions stated above can also additionally or might not arise, it is continually higher to be prepared for the unexpected demanding situations and plan a price range as a result to make sure a hassle-loose production process.

Impact of Covid-19 on construction costs

If media reviews are to be believed, the pandemic has escalated the development charges in India. Rising fuel prices, shortage of production labourers and costly important enter substances consisting of steel, cement, stone, plywood material, etc, have contributed to a growth of as much as 25% in common construction price. With crude oil going as much as $80 per barrel, the price of transportation goes to be a key thing in the growing price of production in India.

Sun-Dried Bricks

Also known as unburnt bricks, those are one of the maximum primitive examples of bricks, this kind of brick became not burnt in kilns however had been dried with inside the solar for hardening. Sun-dried bricks are much less durable, have less water resistance and less fire resistance. These are generally utilized in rural regions or in structures which might be temporary. The procedure of creating those bricks includes three easy steps, i.e. education of clay, molding, and subsequently solar drying.

Burnt Clay Bricks

Burnt clay bricks are the oldest and maximum broadly used production material. These are advanced excellent bricks and are used with inside the production of many crucial structural individuals like walls, columns, foundation, etc. Burnt bricks are labeled into four distinctive types, those are:

First-Class Bricks – This class of burnt clay bricks complies with all the quality of good bricks. These are table molded and are burnt in kilns. These bricks maintain widespread form, clean surfaces, and sharp edges and are extra long lasting and feature extra strength.

Second-Class Bricks – These bricks are of slight excellence. These are floor-molded, after which they are burnt in brick kilns. The form of those bricks is irregular, and the floor isn’t clean, however difficult. In addition to this, those bricks could have hair cracks. This magnificence of bricks is utilized in locations in which the brickwork is included with a coat of plaster.

Third-Class Bricks – As the call suggests, those are bad quality bricks which might be typically used for systems which can be quickly constructed. Note, those aren't appropriate for regions that acquire numerous rain. Third

Class bricks are molded at the floor and are in addition burnt in clamps. The floors of this class of bricks are difficult and those have edges which can be unfair.

Fourth-Class Bricks – These are over-burnt, irregular shaped and darkish in color. This magnificence of bricks is used because of the mixture for concrete in foundations, roads, floors, etc. Owing to its compact structure, those bricks are every now and then determined to be more potent than the best bricks.

Fly Ash Bricks

Fly ash brick is a construction material that is especially utilized in masonry units. It carries class C or class F fly ash and water that is fired at around 1,000 degree Celsius. Due to the excessive awareness of calcium oxide in class C fly ash, this kind of bricks is from time to time defined as “self-cementing”. Typically makes use of fly ash clay bricks in structural walls, pillars, and foundations.

Concrete Bricks

Concrete bricks are made using solid concrete along with elements like cement, sand, coarse aggregates, and water. The sizes of those bricks may be tailored in keeping with the size requirements. These are normally utilized in facades, hidden/inner brickworks, fences, and generally tend to offer a brilliant aesthetic presence.

Engineering Bricks

These have excessive compressive strength and are used for unique applications wherein energy, acid resistance, low porosity, frost resistance is essential. Engineering bricks are normally used for basements, that is due to the fact that in those regions chemical or water assaults are pretty prevalent.

Calcium Silicate Bricks

Calcium Silicate Bricks additionally normally called Sand lime bricks, those are made through blending lime, sand, and fly ash. This kind of bricks is used for numerous functions in production industries like masonry works, decorative works in buildings, etc.

Porotherm Smart Bricks Or Eco Bricks

Porotherm hollow bricks are clever walling material that peruses the benefits of natural clay. These are perforated hollow bricks, which may be both horizontally perforated (HP) or vertically perforated (VP). The reality that they're products of natural materials and are hollow from the inside makes them always greater green than the traditional solid bricks and blocks.

It is utilized in hundreds of residential and industrial projects. Easy utility of the bricks and ordinary support from technical specialists have made Porotherm Bricks a sought-after walling material for residence owners in metros and tier 2 cities.

Bricks are inflexible blocks, commonly square in shape, which are used to assemble many styles of structures - consisting of walls. The first bricks have been easy blocks common from dust after which they were packed together. Common residence bricks are made from clay and shale. Their color relies upon what form of clay blend is used, the firing temperatures, diverse kiln settings and any components used. These components would possibly encompass sawdust, coal, coke, and manganese.

Officially, the time period brick is used to indicate a constructing unit made of formed clay, however in cutting-edge times it refers to a stone or clay-based constructing unit that is joined with cementations mortar while utilized in construction.

Why are bricks used?

Brick is wonderfully strong, and it fully supports a building. It is a durable finish that can be used in many styles and easy to obtain. Long and lasting, it also has a great age. Bricks age very slowly with time. They will also have a thermal mass which means indoor temperatures stay better regulated. They are an environmentally friendly option for building for manufacturing and do not need regular repainting or other maintenance procedures. It is primarily based totally at the Brick Industry Manufactures, the maximum not unusual place brick sizes from 31/2" x 21/4" x 7 5/eight" to a few 5/eight x three 5/eight x eleven 5/eight" as in keeping with measure. Manufacturers of bricks have their personal specs however commonly fall inside those normally produced sizes. These measurements are the real length; however, bricks also are measured with the aid of using their "nominal" length that consists of the width of the mortar joint. The nominal sizes of maximum bricks fit right into a grid that coincides with maximum different constructing capabilities including door frames, home windows and wooden components.

How are bricks installed?

Bricks may be mounted both as a veneer round a wood body, or to create load bearing walls in a strong brick home. Brick veneer walls are commonly crafted from a single column of bricks constructed up in an overlapping grid pattern, the usage of mortar to assist preserve the bricks together. The brick wall is then anchored to the body to make sure it stays stable. Solid brick houses have a double layer of brick with a layer of foam insulation in between. This will deliver your private home a brick end on each of its interior and exterior. Brick interior partitions may be left uncovered as an ornamental characteristic or they will be painted, rendered, or hidden at the back of plasterboard. Others made use of for brick interiors include fireplaces, mantle portions and chimneys.

Bricks Are Sustainable

Many constructing substances cause a first-rate deal of pollutants that harms the surroundings in specific ways. Bricks are a first-rate material that is without a doubt sustainable. The manufacturing of bricks is turning increasingly green in addition to green. Brick plant life is placing opportunity power assets to work, the usage of non-fossil gas resources, which include shooting methane launched through trash from landfills or agricultural waste.

Unlike wood, which calls for taking down trees, brick isn't crafted from a non-renewable resource. You can construct a residence using as many bricks as you’d like without taking far from the herbal splendor of far-off rainforests. Also, considering that bricks can thrive as a lovely constructing fabric for such a lot of years with no need to be replaced, the variety of bricks required for production plant life to bake and deliver out every year is reduced. All in all, bricks are a sustainable constructing fabric which could assist our global be a greener area for decades to come.

Bricks Are Energy Efficient

Office design concepts can be tricky sometimes! To have a perfect office interior, you should hire a professional interior designer who can give you proper office decor ideas and interior design theme for the office as per your requirements. You can use modern office interior concepts and sometimes you can hire a turnkey office interior designer for complete designing and execution.

Starting with the basic, first, you should be clear in your mind about the requirements and give a detailed description of your preferences, taste, and budget, according to the information provided, the designer will come up with the first cut of design in 2D which reflect upon the layout of your offices like cabin location and size, no. of work station, conference room location and size, etc.

Theme selection is one of the major parts of the design, as the theme will define the overall look and feel of the office, hence be careful in doing so. Choose the theme which can best describe your personality and the nature of work you’re operating on. Your office theme can be modern or ultra-modern depending upon your taste & budget.

Having ideas and having a clear image of the ideas are two different things, and to have that clarity of ideas in image one should opt for 3D visualization of 2d layout in 3d via various 3D visualizing tools. Nowadays, people can draw your thought over the computer and present your future office interior in-front of you now and you can make a better decision. 3D visualization can help you to see the final look and feel of the site prior construction and save that extra cost of alteration that can happen if you do not have that clear picture with yourself.

The most important part of the office interior designing is the execution of designs, for that you will need 2d supporting drawing of the 3Ds made so that your contractor can execute the same onsite. Mr. Ajeet one of our esteemed clients has a plot of good size. His concern was to make a 3d front elevation which covers 3d house design as well as complete Vastu 3d front elevation.  Concern regarding the house design is a big headache now a day’s people have a different mindset regarding the house design. When we started the 3d front elevation we face many challenges regarding the Vastu because of the plot direction which is a west-facing plot but the end always good we did it at the end. Let me take you on a tour with the 3d front elevation which we made for Mr. Ajeet.

In the elevation, we have designed two floors where the ground floor made for two bedrooms and two commercial purposes. To maximize the beauty of the house exterior the complete design has been made with the use of wooden tiles, wall paints, wooden planks, CNC jaali, grooving, glass, etc.

In 3d front elevation nakshewala team specifically, consider the privacy for each bedroom. In the elevation, we have separately given balcony to each bedroom which makes elevation fascinating. In the Vastu elevation, we have to consider some points which come under Vastu planning i.e. Structure must be heavy as the side of south and southwest for that we have given the pergola at southwest corner to follow the Vastu.

In the end, we would like to say that when we are planning a good house from internally we should be equally focused on the exterior design too that’s why 3d elevation gives you a completely new view of your house.

Being an architecture designing organization, Nakshewala.com today we would like to share a small clarification on floor plans designing. There are a lot of popular house plans available, one of the most popular among all is the 55x50 west facing Vastu house plan, and it is the most common plot size we see.

Mr. Satinder Singh one of our esteemed clients who selects the complete architectural services from nakshewala.com. He has the plot of 55x50, facing to the west. He has this firm belief in Vastu science. So we made a suitable exclusive Vastu compliant house plan for a 55x50 west facing plot as per his requirements.

The floor plan we have shown in the right is made by team nakshewala. As the client’s first preference for every unit was as per Vastu hence in the planning nakshewala has focused on how we can build a good house with less use of land with Vastu compliance. In the floor plan, we have given sufficient parking for cars where two cars of medium size can be parked easily. A car porch with a beautiful garden gives a lavish feel and also gives a beautiful exterior house design. The entrance from the main door will take you to the drawing hall where we have given a double-height design which gives a good house interior as well as a ventilated house plan. Our priority was to make everything easy to understand therefore we have given the furniture layout in the complete house plan to see how the plan looks after putting the furniture in it. With the very new futuristic island kitchen concept, we have given an alluring dining space with a kitchen. We also placed a storeroom in the backside of the kitchen for easy storage. To enjoy the best moment of life nakshewala has given a small barbeque section in the southeast corner. Last but not least in the floor plan nakshewala has given the wardrobe in the bedroom with the proper sitting arrangement. Rounded staircase to give a classy look to your house. All an all nakshewala gives you an option to plan your dream house in an efficient and effective manner.
